Rainy Day Women

Thursday I got out and did interval work. Since I'm still easing back into it I only did 3 x 10 min intervals. Man did they hurt- its funny how a few weeks off things that were a piece of cake before are still do-able now (they just hurt).

I like listening to the little narrator in my head during intervals. Its amazing the crap that it tries to tell me when I'm about 8 minutes in.
The real truth is, that despite what my head tells me and my body feels like there is not too many situations where intervals will actually lead to death so with that in mind Its a little easier to discredit that little negative voice and replace it with positive affirmations.

I think training the mind is just as important as training the body. I mean it has to be. It does not matter what my body is capable of physiologically speaking- If my mind isn't along for the ride We're not going anywhere. It is a very valuable tool and while the science and the physiology of sports is extremely important, so is the mental discipline.

Friday I spun easy on the trainer in Caitlin's Apartment while we watched the movie Fracture. Shes a trooper to say the least. Her living room is very small and my trainer is very very loud.
I have a really hard time on the trainer as 5 minutes feel more like an hour. Oh yeah two thumbs up for the movie... Although with the trainer it was kind of like a silent film... Made me appreciate Sir Anthony Hopkins acting that much more.

Saturday there was a little lull in the rain which allowed for the Echelon ride. Only 7 of us showed up and I'm not sure it was worth it. 2 hours of riding and 2.5 hours cleaning the bike.

Today I didn't get a ride in as I had to work an unexpected double and Caitlin had some Friends from Switzerland in town.
I'm heading out now for a night time run in the rain. I'm with El Bandito- Id rather run in the rain then ride any day.
;;;
Tomorrow, if weather allows, I'll do the sweet spot training that was scheduled for today.
I know we need the rain in a bad way and I think Pacha Mama is a little more important than Pacha de Chester so llave Mundo!!!
