Did a long SST ride around Casitas and back. The wind was cranking. But one pedal after another I made it home.
Its not too often Ill get out and ride 4 hours by myself. Ill grab an hour before a group ride and an hour after- or split off and do a longer loop with some buds. But from start to finish rarely am I alone for 4 hours unless I'm spending time in the hills.
I've decided that I like riding by myself... A lot. But I also appreciate how much energy is saved by riding in a group and how quickly time passes when chatting with friends.
I stoped at this pedal rental place in venture to refill water- I used a hose that made my water taste like oil- I had to dump it out it was THAT foul. SO I was stuck heading up the rincon with no water pretty dehydrated. I finally made it to carp and stopped at a 7-11, bought a couple of bottles of power aid, re fueled and I was on my way. I made it home just in time to eat 5 pounds of pasta, drink a half gallon of water, take a shower, and run to work.
Work gave me off the 20th (for the martin Luther king crit) and the 25-27th (for the Nevada stage race). Regardless of form its going to be fun to race again. After all, I've only really raced on the road 5 times! But the bug bit me hard man cause I just cant seem to get enough.

You gotta learn where all the stops are for water, especially if you are doing long rides by yourself. Of course, I'm the camel, I don't stop for water... but if you find yourself there again and you need some, there is an RV park right before you make the left turn under the freeway. Go in a bit and on the right is the store. Hang a right after the store and there are bathrooms and I believe a drinking fountain (across from the pool).
Oh yeah, and of course the ever popular water stop at the lake before you drop down into Ventura...
