training blah blah blah

Today I did a 3 hour training run on some of the front side trails of Santa Barbara. We started on Romero single track, then quickly cut over and traversed the front side canyons until we tied into cold springs. We then ran up cold springs and over across the top of the ridge and then back down Romero fire road. It was pretty hot once we climbed out of the fog and I was definitely feeling the work out when I got back down to the car.

I think the run time was right around 3 hours give or take a little.

Following the run I headed down to LA to get my head shots re done and then visit with the in-laws. We had a great dinner followed by a good old fashion game of Bananagrams. Very similar to scrabble and a whole heck of a lot of fun. It is a perfect after dinner game and also makes a great gift.

Sunday I took it easy and ran an hour on the beach and around Elings park, followed by "Lady at the helm" regatta. It was a good time and our boat skippered by Anne Hutchings crossed the line 4th over all. It was a CHRF race which meant that we were racing against every type of boat imaginable. The start was staggered according to handicap. The Tachy fleet ported ourselves very nicely and a grand time was had by all.

On the horizon is my first 50 miler which will be up in the bay area on October 9th. While Ben and I were running on Sunday there was a guy who was also training for this race. He was just starting his taper and Ben and I were just starting are training... Hmmmm. I hope it all works out OK.

I will keep you posted on training as I progress and any gear that I find particularly helpful. As it stands right now I am a little bit nervous and apprehensive, but also exhited and anticipatory.
