Wow has it come to this?

Almost Facebook free for 5 days. I feel like a complete tool for even having to post something like this but I'll admit it has been a challenge. There have been several times when after checking my email with not much to do I inadvertently typed in the url for Facebook and had to remind myself of my pledge and close the window. (Notice I said almost Facebook free- the almost was when I uploaded a picture of blue to Facebook through my phone but did not actually enter the site) I am sure there are those who would read this site and think I'm coming completely out of left field but with Tech overload and online distractions actually stealing my life from me bits and pieces at a time something had to be done. To those who read this post I would pose several questions: how many times did you check your email today or social networking sites such as Facebook or Myspace? How many times in the past week?
Once I took stock honestly I knew I needed to make some kind of change. I plan on carrying on with out Facebook through the weekend and then for at least another week. Starting next week I will implement restrictions on email both at work and at home. Starting tomorrow I will take off the alerts on my phone and check email only twice a day at work and once every other day at home.

Also with May comes the Santa Barbara bike challenge. At work we have several teams that are competing in this city wide competition to try to replace practical trips that would be made in a car with a Bicycle. Santa Barbara is the perfect city to do this in as I can get everywhere on a bike and within the confines of downtown it is actually much faster to travel by two wheels as opposed to four. I have pledged to commute by bike at least once every day of the month. More on Bicycle Mania.

Here is our official team photo. Our team is called Bike Ninjas so here we our in our fiercest ninja attire
