The plan this morning was to run along the beach into work... But when I got down the steps at the end of San Rafael rd at 5:40 this morning the Tide was already a foot from the bluffs. I had done my home work and checked the tides, although being extremely in experienced in what that all means I had mis interpreted the numbers... so there I was 5:40 in the morning, the Pacific Ocean barricading my planned running route.
I decided to just bite the bullet and run the same route that I ride into work... It was going to be a few more miles then I really wanted but it was important to me that I accomplish what I set out to do....
So I ran... through the park and across the bridge.
And I ran... through the Douglas preserve and down to Hendrys beach.
And I ran... up through the hills of hope ranch where the weather was balmy.
And I ran... through an early morning women's jogging group, their headlamps forming dozens of torches casting light from their foreheads- They looked strange and not of this Earth.
And I ran... down from hope ranch where the bike back intersects.
And I ran... down the bike path until the university was in view.
And I stopped... and the beach to stretch and snap a few.
And I ran... up through the University where the air was so still.
And I ran... along campus housing where the occasional alarm was bleeping
And I ran...through the neighborhood with road signs, name after other UC's
And I ran along the edge of ellwood and up to my work.
And I stopped for just a moment before I keyed in...
To appreciate life and how my day did begin.
To appreciate life and how my day did begin.
