Well the season has concluded for this bike racer and OH MAN WHAT A YEAR IT HAS BEEN!! I am referring of course mostly to the things that have happened in my life off the bike. Things like getting married. But as this is mainly a cycling blog lets get the boring stuff out of the way first...
Here are my season highlights:
UCLA RR: 1st place
DEVILS PUNCH BOWL RR: 2nd Place
NORCAL DISTRICT RR CHAMPIONSHIPS: 7th Place
UNIVERSITY RR: 3rd Place
SISQUOC RR: 2nd Place
UPGRADE TO USCF CATEGORY 2
That is it in a nutshell I guess. I also flatted from 2 winning breaks in other Road Races and continued to place last in nearly every crit I entered. Right before my Upgrade USA Cycling had me ranked 1st in California for RR's and top 5 in the country. But those rankings don't mean much to people other then Dads and wives ;)
Married life is the good life that is fo sho. I am constantly amazed at how just when I think I could not possibly love someone any more, I do. My capacity for love is proving infinite.
Caitlin and I just recently moved again. The idea is to downsize and save try to put some money in the bank. We moved into a one bedroom studio attached to one of my friends house on the Mesa. It is a lot smaller, but also simpler. In the move process Caitlin and I donated a good 20 percent of our mutual belonging and I donated 80 percent of my clothes. It is so refreshing and cleansing to weed excess out of my life. We truly do live in abundance, especially in this country
I have also found eBay and have started selling accumulated cycling primes and old used cycling equipment on eBay. Things like Extra Large thermal vests and 9 speed chains etc...most of the items I would give away however this provides a little (very little ) supplemental income. The idea is that since most of the stuff that I am selling is of no real value to me I list it at 99 cents with no reserve and hopefully give some one a good deal.
The season has officially ended for me. This morning Caitlin and I went for a run and my plan is to try to start running more and if I can keep my IT band at bay perhaps run a half marathon or some 10 and 15ks this weekend. The tram road race is a running race I have ALWAYS wanted to run. My mom has won it (in her age category and I think once or twice as the first woman over all) more times then I can count on my fingers and toes. But I tend to be all talk no action so at this point I am not committing to anything... just gonna see how the first few weeks of running go, then decide on a goal or two.
I have sort of fallen off the blog horse and now I am going to fall back on. My schedule has been pretty crazy working 40+ hours a week, school, married life, cycling, and other weekly commitments and blogging just took a back seat.
Vegan life is still going strong and truth be told I have never felt so good and I have never ridden as strong so to those who would contend that veganism is not conducive to competitive endurance sports I would say my own life experience thus far has proved that it is.
Well I'm off to a free dinner at a restaurant in Monticeto (compliments of my concierge wife) so In closing I leave you with these words...
Life is a Chance.
Love is Infinity.
Grace is Reality
