Well there was a break in the wind and the clouds for local Sat crit Mothballs put on by local studd of a club: echelon.
Some of the Platinum mountain and crossers showed up so for a nice refreshing change I wasnt alone for my cat 5 race. The plan was to attack hard drill it non stop at the front for the short 30 minute race and put the hurt on the field. Well we certainly did just that. It was a real blast and despite being swarmed in the end I think we clearly stood out as some of the strongest riders...maybe not the smartest but definitely the strongest. In retrospect I think one or two of us should have hung in the back and tried to make a go of it during the last lap. I think if we had applied a little gray matter we could've easily sewed up places 1,2 and 3.
Mr Alden approved my upgrade after this race and allowed me the race the 4's. I attacked a couple times, contested a prime (second by about half a bike length), and was in a break that stayed away for a lap or two. But tired from the effort in the 5's race and still recovering from a bad sinus infection my gas tank was anything but full. I Finished towards the front of the pack but got nervous during the last lap as the yahoos were swinging all over the place and just sort of sat in.
Today I headed out for a lunch ride with Gary. The wind was fierce and it seemed no matter what direction we were pedaling there was a head wind. So we headed up to farren and decided if we were gonna suffer that bad we may as well be climbing. It was suppose to be a threshold effort but I ended up noodling for most of the ride. After a couple repeats up Farren Gary headed back to work and I headed to hope ranch for a little more and then up the mesa and back down town. Hopefully the wind will die down by tomorrow because the game plan is 6:00 am osm and Painted cave repeats.

Team Platinum had riders representing in almost every category and along with local Chicken Ranchers I think Santa Barbara did a good job defending our "turf"
