Thought it was worth sharing.
This is the kind of journalism this country could use more of.
Im sure all of you are aware Mr. Bush has passed a bill in the wake of September 11 that "sanctions the use of armed forces in major public emergencies" (<---that link to an article on the bill)
From the actual bill
Section 1042 -
Revises federal provisions allowing the President to utilize the Armed Forces in connection with interference with federal and state law to allow the President to employ the Armed Forces and National Guard in federal service to restore public order in cases of natural disaster, epidemic or other public health emergency, terrorist attack or incident, or domestic violence. Requires the President to notify Congress within 14 days of the exercise of such authority. Authorizes the President, when exercising such authority, to direct the Secretary to provide supplies, services, and equipment to persons affected by the situation.
... Hmmm sounds a lot like Martial law.
Hypothetically speaking if an act of terror or a "major public emergency" were to take place near the coming election. Said elections could be suspended and martial law declared. Im not saying that this would ever happen, but technically president bush could serve a term longer then 8 years. Makes me sick just thinking about it.
