So I was all set to sit on my ass all day Sunday... watch some t.v. eat way more than I should... pig out... recover... and then it happens.
A little message popped up on the lower right hand of my computer screen. It was from Gary and it said "Hey kid, get out and ride."
I'm still not quite sure how all of that happened... electronically speaking with the message and the computer, i mean i don't have aol instant msngr.
So I did what anyone would've done. I took it as a sign, pumped up the tires, and headed out to worlds.
Needless to say my legs felt like vanilla pudding. I say vanilla because that's my favorite kind. I was worthless up Goob, didn't make a break, and was even more shot up bates. I worked my ass off on the way back to the polo fields just to hang on.
Then theres Gary rolling up to the left of me. "Want to climb Gibraltar?"
"I hadn't planed on it." I tell him.
He convinced me that it was going to be at a cruising pace and that that I should at least climb torro and ladera.
I agreed. Then Linsday showed up. What Gary and Linsday consider a cruising pace I couldn't hold. I climbed Torro, made it about 5 seconds up Ladera and turned around and rode back into town to meet my mom for breakfast.
Today my left Knee is hurting something fierce. It was pretty painful just to cruise into school today. I think I'm going to give it a rest for a couple of days.
Everest seems like an impossible feat to even comprehend at this point... I'm leaning more towards the side of "maybe next year"
happy riding!

Sucks about the kneee. I spent the weekend climbing to test myself for Everest... if I got back and didn't want to climb anymore I wasn't going to register. As it turned out, after about 11K feet on Saturday I felt pretty good and only stopped because I was bored... I mean how many times do I want to look at Stagecoach in one day?!? Sunday got another 8K or so on my way to Thousand Oaks. Still felt like I could have done more if it weren't for time constraints...so Everest, here I come!
Good job. Funny how some of those guys like to 'talk' on the bike instead of riding.

Chesta (I am in Boston now so have to employ the accent) -
Sorry about the leisure pace. With Lindsay it was definately a little more than leisure...at least for me. We climbed up Ladera and he was having shifting issues that he had to go fix so thankfully I could go at my pace up Gib. Anyway, rest that knee. I have seen you climb. You have it in you. Give it another 2 weeks before you decide on EC. Gary
