The One Design sailing regatta this past Saturday was pretty awesome.
Nice square lines, a reasonably full fleet, and more then one shot. We raced four races in total and ended up third overall with a 5th place, 3rd place, 1st place, and 4th place. Which was good enough for a 3rd overall. Good enough for a medal.
The best thing was an opportunity to practice and gain skill. Unlike the wed races where you only get one shot to get it right, a regatta allows for more experimental tactics. True to form I had some brilliant races and some abominable races. I am going to have to gain some consistency in my racing.
The Sunday after I headed out and crewed for another friend who was going to single hand in a CHRF event. We ended up first with a cushion of several minutes. At this point every sail is a powerful learning experience and an opportunity to harness greater skill.
My Dad came out and raced with us on Tachy too this Wed and it was more of the same. Came from nearly last place at the first weather mark to second by the second weather mark but then were past twice on our run to the line. We could not quite get our speed up to par.
The running is on the back burner as I let an injury to the outside of my right foot heal up some. I was suppose to race a 50 miler next week but I will probably have to push that back for at least a month while I let my foot heal. In the mean time Im STOKED ON CROSS and looking forward to some fun cycle cross action.
The Guest House
This being human is a guest house.
