A blast from the past

This is a photo of my sister and I when we were just wee little ones.

Gonna keep it short and sweet as I am prepping for a trip with the fiance to Arizona to make use of some four season comp nights... Just one of the many perks.

This week has been all about the miles.
T: first half of lunch ride + 4x Farren Road repeats; Osm
W: Hope Ranch Suffervals (skipped Sea Ranch); then OSM Painted Cave ECC Stage coach, paradise road stage coach 154 home with Spins and Hammer.
Th: 4 hour 50 minute ride: Rocco Ride (Hammer fest this morning), torro, ladera, mountain, OSM, 1/2 painted cave, OSM again, Bicycle Bobs, Work.

I just got news that Caitlin through her Concierge connections was able to secure a road bike for me to borrow while were on vacation so I'll continue to slug away.

The late season is bringing a lot of Road Races up north and then Ill end it with Everest Challenge. So I will be training accordingly.

Big Ups.

Feelin the effects

Gonna keep this one short and sweet. I am in a lot of pain.

Had a great race in SLO... stayed near the front, covered every move, took two primes and ended up in second place.

Upgraded and raced aggressive in the 3's. My only real concern in this race was to stay out of trouble. I stayed near the front and formed a three man break that stayed away for what felt like about 15 minutes or so. We split the work, rode smooth, keep it fast through the corners and stretched the gap to about 17 seconds at one point... but the field just wouldn't ease up in the slightest. At two to go I was sitting around 8th wheel or so, but after a bump here and a bump there, and my newly acquired Road Rash I sat up and finished 25th.

A picture of me with the real Champ!...

Props to Steve W. for hanging in there in what was a very fast 4's race.

Props to Z-pack for a great 8th place finish in the 3's and Smitty for riding an aggressive race.

Not sure where the rest of the team ended up as I headed home for some rest and recovery.
Be sure to check Marco's blog- Hes sure to have full race report with pictures up before long ;)

My parents were up and got the opportunity to watch me race.

This is my dad holding "The Buss" while I got Greg Alden to approve my upgrade.

This is my Mom in the feed zone Reppin hard.

Red Tide

Got taken out with in 300m to the line by.

Broken bars, dented frame, smashed helmet, entire back and shoulders covered in road rash.

Nothing is broken... I have pictures but I don't think they are appropriate to post here.

The Fast Fridays guys are the ones solely responsible for the pile up. They were completely out of control out there. I have only been racing a year so my bike handling skills are not the best. But I am aware of this fact so I don't try to pretend I am Robbie McEwen racing for a stage win at the Tour. A Fast Friday guy came burling through on the inside and shoved me into riders to the left of me... No biggie, We keept it upright... then He broke a chain and As we were moving to avoid him a team mate of his came charging through me and rider I was shoulder to shoulder with on my left- He came hurtling into both of our hoods, I immediately flipped over my handle bars and went hurtling to the asphalt below. Caitlin said she could see my bike flying through the air.

That is bike racing I guess. If you cant beat em... beat em.

Maybe I am over reacting, maybe I am just upset. I had the best legs Ive ever had at a Road race finish, I played it smart was in the top 5 and a definite contender for the win. I feel like I got robbed. Oh well, what can you do.

Its gonna take a little more than a little love session with the asphalt to keep me down, tomorrow I'll toe the line at SLO and give it another go... just like when I was first learning how to ride a bike.

Making it tough to work...

I got into the office today around 6:30 in the Am to find no phone and no internet. Apparently our system suffered a "fatal crash". A frustrating situation to find yourself in when attempting to meet ever approaching deadlines. Then, around 11 the whole building lost power...
Well I'm no psychic but I can take a hint. Enough was enough. Time to ride. CO was closed to Ron Keith and I headed up through Hope Ranch. We did the traditional Wed Interval type ride( Sea Ranch Road included), Then I headed to Elings park and did 4 repeats up the drive way, then took the steep way down town and headed out around the Torro 192 area and back up mountain and home.

When life hands you lemons... Get out and ride!
