I wish this could be more of a race report but when you in the back of a field of over 100 guys it is very difficult to keep tabs on what was going on in the front. All I can say for certain is I took a lap on the front trying my best to motivate a field to chase a break that was absent of Platinum riders. I nearly got dropped afterward but I held on and actually felt better for the effort. I got gapped out in the last lap and had no jump to get back in the draft so I peddled in solo a couple seconds behind the group, but I finished the race and am stronger for it.
I am not sure how the rest of the platinum boys did. Most of them were pretty tired from having already raced 2 or 3 previous races.
The whole thing was very reminiscent of my first bike race for some reason. Even though It was not particularly exciting and I did not have the legs to mix it up in the front I had a ridiculously amount of fun. The best part was Caitlin on the sidelines cheering me on. I would say because of our schedules she has probably only been to a half dozen bike races that I have done. Things are better with the family there and the motivation factor is as high as its ever been.
