On the mend

Above is a picture of my Knee post skiing accident. I had a hematoma which is basically just a really bad bruise with ruptured blood vessels and internal bleeding that is causing pooling of blood. Generally it is not a big deal unless calcium deposits build up and then you have a REALLY BIG deal. But the percentage of that is super super low as long as I follow Doctors Orders and mucho take it easy.

So that is exactly what I did... ~2 weeks off the bike. It actually worked out rather nicely because I got hit with a gnarl y flu/ cold/ sinus/ 100+ fever at about the same time. The down time has been nice... down time is always nice but it kind threw serious salt in the way of my early season game... But such is life.

I just started riding again this week and so far it has been okay... My knee is still generally achy post ride (even an easy ride). But It feels good to be riding again... When does it ever not feel good to start riding again? Especially when we are involuntarily sidelined.

So thats really all I have to report on the bike front... It doesn't look like my focus will probably be the Cal Cup (norcal) later in the season and of course any and local-ish races that the team decides we want to go waiko on.

I leave you with a Haiku I have named: The Battle of Wounded Knee

Right knee in a swell
Slowly growing as blood pools
Gosh darn it Chester

Don't push it too hard, stay on the mend...and off the skis.
