You learn something new everyday.
Today I rode the 8:00 roco ride. (35 mile loop to rincon and back)
As I was climbing the hill right after the polo fields I threw my chain.
I yelled "chain off" people started going around me as I was staring down at my feet wondering what I should do. I tried to pedal backwards and then forwards... sometimes that works. I was just getting ready to pop off my bike and fix it when a rider came up and put his hand and my back and pushed me up the hill. Then I heard Letteri from behind...
"pedal easy... shift up... big ring... shift up... shift down... shift up... shift down."
I listened to him, shifting just like he was telling me... My chain popped back on then went over then went off then went on. By this time I was over the hill and able to start pedaling again on my own... We were still with the group. Amazing.
The friendliness and camaraderie among cyclists never ceases to amaze me.
I spent lunch time conducting an informal information gathering interview with another cyclist who is in the career field that I'd one day like to be in.
Cycling is not just a sport its a way a life, and one that I am extremly gratful that I get to be apart of.
